Res Artis member Anastasia Patsey, director of the Музей нонконформистского искусства / Museum of nonconformist art and head of the SPAR program in St. Petersburg has kindly shared this video VIRTUAL RESIDENCES – SHORTENING THE DISTANCE where she talks about the concept of virtual residences and its concrete implementation.
Anastasia also convened the virtual panel discussion on 11 November 2020 for “Beyond Distance: How Art Residencies are Migrating Online” with various international participants and including Res Artis Executive Director Eliza Roberts. ARCAthens have launched their first Virtual Residency featuring two artists, one in Athens, Greece, and the other in Bronx, New York. They will be in conversation for one month posting daily on Instagram. Mediated by curator and ARCAthens Executive Director Aristides Logothetis, the artists will be working with social media as their medium to create a bridge between two vibrant communities during the COVID 19 pandemic.

IASPIS began online activities initially to accommodate artists who were unwell and unable to visit physically. IASPIS now have a digital public program including residencies, showcasing creative practices and behind-the-scenes studio visits.
